Back to School, Psychobaby Style

 

It's that time of year again! A time that ends the carefree days of ball playing, staying up past bedtime, catching lightning bugs and endless hours playing in the mud, sand, water or whatever else that makes the biggest mess!

Ho hum. We parents pretend to commiserate while we secretly count the days until we can skip back to our cars after dropping little Johnny off and have five whine free minutes! Phew, that felt great to write! It has, in fact, been a long summer. And it's not even over.

The truth is, just about every year at this time, I do count the days for school to start. BUT I will honestly admit, after skipping to my car, it only takes about 30 seconds before I am teary! I miss my whiny, dirty, smelly boys. All at once, I am remembering the many little moments we shared over that long summer and wishing for just one more day!

So, what's the lesson? The summer grass is always greener? The moments fly by too fast? They get big before you want them to be? Yes, yes and yes!

Ok. So now for the non emotional, cool stuff. However you or your kiddos feel about the "big day", your gonna need some cool threads.
