These Rock and Roll favorites will crank up the Holiday cheer!

Ever wonder where really cool toys come from? Cool elves! Psychobaby has an all access pass to the VIP section of Santa's workshop. Shop the hottest toys, books, clothes and accessories of the season all in one cool, crazy place!

Over the river and through the woods...

How are you getting to your turkey feast? Whether it's by car or by plane, you are going to need to keep your tot busy! My family and I are braving new scanning technology and heading to Boston!
I am putting together a bag for my six year old including this great Flip to Win memory game by Melissa and Doug, Melissa and Doug's Sticker Collection that comes with over 500 pieces (a no brainer) and some snacks. If all else fails, I have my secret weapon, my iPad!
I thought back a few years to when my boys were too tiny to play games or appease with a soft toy for more than a minute or two and had to include Rockabye Baby's lullaby rendition of Journey. If all else fails with a wee one...how about a Mute Button pacifier?
The most important thing to remember when traveling with a little one is patience and a sense of humor. Both go a long, long way!!
Have a great Holiday! -Marlo

Turkey Lurkey Crafts From Easel Art

Are your kids tired of drawing their turkey by tracing their hand? Kerry from Easel Art Studio has just the thing for you: a turkey tea light you can easily craft at home that will make a delightful centerpiece on Thanksgiving!

To make your turkey, you will need:
old glass Jar (washed out)
old tissue paper
old magazines
Construction paper
googlie eyes or buttons
glaze or mod podge
glue
Feathers
How to put your turkey-lurkey together:

1. With your child cut or rip all the warms colors in the magazine and also in the tissues paper.

2. Cut out turkey face parts and a head out of the construction paper. The head as a base will help your child to figure out where the eyes, the beak and the major caruncles (aka the red gobble gobble under the beak) should go.

3. Cut a half circle shape out of construction paper (not taller than your jar.) This will be the back feathers.

4. Glue all kinds of feathers on the half circle.

5. Cut a belly out of construction paper, (almost in a tear drop shape)

Now lets put it all together!
6. Spread glue on the entire outside of you glass jar.

7. Apply the magazine cut out and the tissue paper to the outside of the jar (on the glue)

8. Mod Podge the over the paper

9. Glue your face and the belly on the front of the jar.

10. Glue the tail on the back.

Let it dry and drop a tea-light candle inside! Enjoy you turkey tea light.

Cool, Crazy Q&A: Suzi Shelton

Suzi Shelton is coming all the way from New York to join Little Miss Ann for a kids' show at Subterranean on November 21! Get to know a little bit more about this rockin' Mama below, and then get tickets to her show--->
1. What brings you to the Windy City?

I was asked by my friend Ann Torrabla (aka Little Miss Ann) if I wanted to come and open for her at a Chicago show, and I jumped at the chance! I have only been to Chicago once in my life, and I loved it then, so I am excited to come back - and this time I am bringing my 6 year old daughter! It's going to be a girls weekend.

2. What do you think kids deserve to get more props for?

I think kids are expected to do a lot of things these days. A lot more than when I was a kid. School is harder, there are WAY more activities for them, and a lot more pressure to succeed. I think kids deserve to get props for being flexible and being open to trying new things. It's not always easy to be flexible, you know?

3. What music makes you so happy you could do a cartwheel?

I love when I hear old music from my youth like The Beatles and Elvis Presley, but I also flip out when I hear The Cure, New Order, or Depeche Mode!

4. What music do you secretly rock out to?

I don't really know how to answer this one, so I will go with I have a soft spot for both Katy Perry and Brittany Spears...shhhhh!

5 Is The New 21: Robert Gomez of Subterranean

Top 5 Reasons Why 5-year-olds Act Like 21-year-olds While Watching A Band

5. Both tend to stumble and fall
4. Both spill an awful lot, but unfortunately, only the 5-year-olds drink from sippy cups
3. Both have a tendency to gyrate and pull at their pants when they need to go to the bathroom
2. The boys in both groups tend to spontaneously howl for no apparent reason
AND
1. Neither seems to be able to read the menu!

A few words on 'little kid shows' with Gomez, father of two and owner of cool rock clubs

"When I bought Beat Kitchen in 2005, I never imagined that we would be hosting shows for little kids. After all, we showcase the likes of punk and death metal. Music for tykes? It just didn't seem possible. But here we are, 3 years into it and, as the owner of a music venue, the coolest part is that kids have a place to 'rock out' and get their palate wet for playing in a band someday. And the musicians have a place to perform, test out their music, and maybe, just maybe, make a living from it.

So how did it all start? Well, my wife signed up our daughter Ava for a Wiggleworms class at Old Town. Yes, she told me where to go but I wasn't paying attention and I walked into the wrong classroom in the wrong building over on Lincoln (I was supposed to be at Armitage). Karen Banks-Lubicz was teaching and compassionately let me stay.

As I watched Karen (who now performs as Karen 4 Kids!) I was thinking how cool it would be if the kids could see her with a full band and on a real stage and sound system.....and boy, would I love a beer right now. And then it hit me: This is what we need to do at Beat Kitchen.

Well, as fortune would have it, Karen had just completed her own cd with mostly her own music (original music is a thing for us over at Beat and Subt) and we agreed to put a show together 6 weeks out. So, because I went to the wrong place at the wrong time (did I forget to mention I was an hour late?) and a good thing happened.

Beat Kitchen has shows most Sundays at noon and we are hosting shows on occasional Saturdays at Subterranean as well, with special treats from Psychobaby. " You can check for dates, times and prices on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/kidsshowschicago
